The Story

Resting in the shadow of
something ancient.

“Helena has lived in the shadow of the Sleeping Giant for generations — visible from the highway, painted on postcards, pointed out by parents to kids in the backseat on the way into town.”

— The story behind the name

Shane and Heather Campbell

Shane & Heather Campbell

Your Hosts · Helena, MT

Shane is a US Army Veteran who traded the South for Big Sky Country. Although he’ll never stop bleeding orange and blue (War Eagle!), Montana has been his home for more than 20 years. He raised his children in this house and happy memories still resonate from every room.

Shane met Heather in 2022. Heather, a Montana native and graduate of the University of Montana, was working and raising her teen daughter in Missoula. With an empty nest in Helena, Shane relocated to Missoula shortly before he and Heather married. Not quite ready to let his family home go, they decided to open it to others looking to make memories of their own.

Whether you’re here with family or friends, for vacation or work, Shane and Heather want your stay to be as comfortable as possible. You’re not just checking into a rental, you’re staying in a home that was loved for two decades. Should you need anything at all, we are always just a text or call away at (406) 531-5758.

That ancient ridgeline, just east of Helena, has watched over this valley for longer than anyone can remember. Local legend says the giant lies in peaceful rest — one arm outstretched, fingers just grazing the foothills below. This home sits within that reach.

When we were naming this place, we knew the answer before we finished asking the question. The Giants Reach isn’t just a place to sleep — it’s a place to exhale. To feel the scale of Montana without leaving the comfort of a warm kitchen, a fenced yard, and a bed that actually fits.

The Sleeping Giant has been a landmark for Helena travelers for generations. We wanted this home to carry a little of that same permanence. A place people return to. A name people remember.

So whether you’re here chasing powder at Great Divide, fly fishing the Missouri, lobbying at the Capitol, or just passing through with your dog and your RV — you’re resting in the shadow of something ancient and unhurried.

The giant’s been here forever. We’re glad you found his reach.
